Civic Engagement Project Staff

about The Project:

Staff will assist with collecting stories from the Hmong community on how they are utilizing the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and if repealed, how it will impact them.

About us:

Communities for a New California (CNC) Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) civil rights advocacy organization committed to achieving environmental, economic, and socially just public policy for working class families in the rural areas of California. Our work is focused in the San Joaquin Valley and Coachella Valley.

Hmong Innovating Politics (HIP) s a grassroots organization whose mission is to strengthen the political power of Hmong and disenfranchised communities through innovative civic engagement and strategic grassroots mobilization. This is a collaborative project between Communities for a New California (CNC) Education Fund and Hmong Innovating Politics (HIP). The civic engagement project staff will be employed by CNC.

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. 5 day Civic Engagement Project will start April 3rd and end April 7th

  2. 25 hours total

  3. Work schedule: Monday-Friday 3:30PM-8:30PM (5 hrs)

  4. Hourly pay for all staff is $15 per hour (additional $60 dollar reimbursement for using own cellphone).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Be able and available to work the schedule outlined above

  2. Be punctual and able to work effectively in a team environment

  3. Have experience with civic engagement campaigns, sales, or customer service

  4. Be self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  1. Be Bilingual in English and Hmong (bilingual preferred but not required)

  2. Have reliable transportation and a cell phone (preferred but not required)
